Help Center

Quick answers to get you swapping.

How do I list an item?

Click + List an Item in the nav or on the browse page. Choose a mode (Sell, Buy, Trade, or Give Away), fill in the details, and hit List Item. Your listing goes live immediately.

What does each mode mean?

Sell — you're asking for money. Set a price.
Buy — you're looking for something and willing to pay. Describe what you want.
Trade — swap something you have for something you want. No money needed.
Give Away — free to a good home. No strings attached.

How do I contact a seller or trader?

Visit the item page and use the message box at the bottom. Sign in to send a message — it goes directly to the lister. Use the conversation to arrange pickup, payment, or a trade.

Is there a fee to list?

No. Listing is free. Smile and Swap Station takes a small cut on completed sell transactions — nothing upfront.

How do I complete a trade?

Message the other person through the item page, agree on the exchange (what's being traded and when/where), and confirm once it's done. Both sides should mark the exchange complete so the listing goes away.

What should I include in my listing?

A clear title, honest condition, location, and a photo if you have one. The more detail, the faster you'll find the right person. Mention defects plainly — it builds trust.

How do I mark an item as gone?

Once the item is sold, traded, or given away, let us know through the item page and we'll archive it. Or just stop responding to messages and it'll naturally rotate out.

Is this safe?

Meet in public places for exchanges. Trust your instincts. Use the message thread to keep a record of your conversation. If something feels off, walk away.
